Is A Family Resort Better For Kids?

If you're planning a vacation with your family—including children—you might be wondering whether you should stay at a regular hotel or a family resort. In theory, family resorts are supposed to be better for stays with children, but is there much difference?  As it turns out, you and your kids will likely have a much better time staying at a family-friendly resort than a hotel that doesn't specify being for families.

They're Allowed to Stay There

The first and most important benefit of staying at a family resort with your children is they're allowed to be there. Some hotels and resorts don't allow guests under 18. There's nothing worse than booking a hotel and finding out at check-in that your kids aren't allowed to stay there.

Some adults prefer staying at places where children won't be running around disturbing their peace—which is understandable. However, if you have kids of your own, you will be out of luck if you try staying at one of these hotels. That's why staying at a family-friendly resort is nice, as you'll know your kids will be welcome.

Other Guests Expect Your Kids to Be Loud

Kids can get a little loud and rowdy at times. If you stay at a regular resort that isn't specifically for families, you might get embarrassed when your kids do all the crazy things that kids do. However, you won't be the only parent dealing with wild children at a family resort, so it's much less embarrassing.

Kid-Friendly Amenities

Family resorts are more likely to have amenities for children to enjoy than ordinary hotels. They usually have a swimming pool, game room, etc., so your kids have something to do during your stay. At resorts aimed at adult guests, your children might have no choice but to sit around the room bored the entire time.

Food Choices for Kids

Most resorts have a restaurant on-site, but many don't have good options for kids. Children tend to be picky eaters and don't always like the food choices at adult restaurants. A restaurant at a family resort will usually serve foods kids love, like chicken tenders, hot dogs, pizza, burgers, etc.

Child Care Services

Some family resorts have options available for child care. If you want to enjoy some adult time without the kids, you can have someone watch them for you. In most cases, they will be with other children, and games and activities will be available to keep them entertained.
